BMW will recall 1.4 million vehicles for fire risk

BMW is Recalling 1.4 million cars and SUVs in North America because of fire risk. The company has agreed with the National authority of road safety two stage removal of hazardous vehicles. Among them: BMW 3 series, 5 series, X5, X3 and Z3.

The first phase, covering more than 740 000 vehicles associated with a particular engine. There is a danger of short circuits and trunks, and this in turn increases the likelihood of fire, even if the car is not used. However, BMW stated that they were not notified of accidents or injuries related to this malfunction.

The second stage of withdrawal, covering approximately 673 000 vehicles associated with wiring, heating and air conditioning. In this case, BMW reported four incidents, including three cases where the victims were.

Replacement of defective parts will begin December 18.
