Careless handling of weapons almost caused another tragedy. Wednesday late evening, a resident of Apple valley, California, accidentally fired a bullet into a two year old daughter.
At about 23:25 the man decided to clean the gun, but it has ignored the safety rules and did not discharge. The consequences were not long in coming: the weapon suddenly went off.
The perpetrator of the incident was on the first floor, but the bullet went through the ceiling and into a room on the second floor. A little girl who just slept there at the time, was wounded in the stomach. The incident occurred in the 16100 block of VIO road.
Arrived at the scene the paramedics took the baby to the hospital for emergency surgery. Thanks to the timely intervention of doctors the girl survived and is now in stable condition.
Representatives of the Sheriff and the Department of children and families acknowledged the incident an accident and decided not to take the parents of the victim girl and other two children. At the moment the case was submitted to the district attorney’s office, who makes the final decision regarding the allegations against the father.
This summer a similar case in Indiana had more tragic consequences — on June 28 a resident of Hobart inadvertently killed from a pistol of 9-year-old daughter. By a cruel twist of fate, at the time of the incident, the man was teaching the kids the safe handling of weapons.
