65-year-old Mervin Efun is accused of the repeated sexual assault of 16-year-old student for several months. It is reported by the NYPD.
Mervin Efun taught at the Academy of hospitality and tourism. In February of this year, the Brooklyn high school teacher tried to show sexual interest in the boy, but he denied his intention. According to police, a subsequent attempt to seduce the teenager was more successful. The guy met with Afuna in his apartment several times. According to the boy, the teacher gave him money for food.
Last weekend the teenager told her parents about the harassment by the teacher. The police arrested Epona early Tuesday morning.
In the Department of education said: «These shocking allegations should have absolutely no place in our schools and represent behavior that destroys trust between students and families.»
Local resident and activist Anthony Beckford expressed his personal view that did not expect such actions on the part of the person that should be confidant.
«As a teacher, your duty is to guide, shape and protect children, he said. School is a sense of protection from the streets, so when you continue to commit some of the heinous things that happen on the streets, this proves that our children do not have protection.»
Police have charged the teacher in repeated sexual abuse, forcible touching and criminal sex acts, which harm the baby.
Recall last month there was a similar case in another Brooklyn school. 62-year-old Alameldin of Abdelrahim accused of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of 5-year-old boy.
