In new York, a diplomat from Australia fell to his death during a «game of confidence»

«Trust» was fatal for a 30-year-old Australian diplomat Julian Simpson, who fell from the balcony of the seventh floor in new York tonight.

The tragedy occurred on Clinton Street in the Lower East side.

Witnesses told the New York Post that the diplomat was vacationing with his buddies, and at night a group of friends went to the roof to admire the view of the Empire State Building. That night the building was lit with rainbow colors in honor of the fact that in Australia the majority of citizens voted for gay marriage.

According to witnesses, Simpson grabbed and circled the wife of one of those present, and then between the men clashed.

They left the roof and began on the balcony of the seventh floor where Julian Simpson said that he had no nefarious intentions. To prove the woman’s husband that he, Simpson, could trust, the diplomat offered to «play the game».

He sat down on the balcony railing with his back to the street.

«It’s a game of trust. I believe that you will catch me before I fall,» said Simpson, but slipped on the railing and fell down. To catch his companion did not.

The diplomat was taken to the hospital Mount Sinai Beth Israel, but there the doctors just pronounced him dead.

Investigators are investigating the incident as an accident. The police also said that all the partygoers were drinking alcohol.

Australian Consulate General in new York declined to comment.
