During a fire in Queens killed 12-year-old child

In the night from Saturday to Sunday a fire in Queens took the life of 12-year-old child and caused injuries of 8 people. The tragedy occurred at 3:00 in the LCD Ocean Promenade, located in Rockaway Park.

According to firefighters, the source of the fire appeared in one of the apartments on the 5th floor of a condominium in which there are 1-room apartments. On a scene there arrived 60 firefighters from 12 departments. In an hour they managed to cope with the elements, however, the boy, whom relatives identified as Thomas Curley, managed to choke.

Three occupants received serious injuries and four minor. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

Three hours later, fired up a 32-story residential at the intersection of 1st Avenue and 110th street in Manhattan. As a result of emergency one person died at the scene.

In connection with the incidents, the fire Department organized a course on safety — 16:00 Agency staff will explain to residents how to behave in case of fire. The event takes place on 1st Avenue.

Rescuers warn that in the period from December to February occurs a third of all fires. The most dangerous time is midnight.
