Macy’s on Herald Square evacuated due to fire

The flagship store of Macy’s in Herald Square was evacuated Tuesday morning after being in the basement of the building ignited the trash container.

The fire started inside a trash can on the second floor basement № 34. The fire recorded at 9:10 am.

As a precaution, workers were evacuated from the store, which remains closed.

Arrived at the scene firefighters managed to bring the fire under control only by 10.45 am.

According to Patch, one person received minor injuries in connection with the fire. Smoke was in the second floor of the basement and Elevator shaft.

The reason of ignition is established.
