In Manhattan girl burned alive, preparing food

A resident of Koreatown, Manhattan, died from burns in his own apartment in the 42-story building on W. 31st between Broadway and Fifth Ave.

According to the police, 34-year-old girl was preparing food at about 15 hours of the day, and her clothes suddenly caught fire.

911 was called by neighbors who smelled smoke. Arrived on-call police and rescuers found a dead landlady in the bathroom. Apparently, the girl tried to extinguish her burning clothes, but she could not do that. The deceased was covered in burns.

The final cause of death will be established by the city’s medical examination. According to preliminary data, the incident qualified as an accident.
