Mass carbon monoxide poisoning in Lower Manhattan: the 34 survivors

More than three dozen people were hospitalized with the diagnosis «poisoning with carbon monoxide» as a result of a fire in the basement of the building that occurred this morning in Lower Manhattan.

The incident began about 8:40 am at Murray St 60.

In the fire Department of new York city say that a possible cause of poisoning is a faulty oil burner. Police also found at the scene of a suspicious package, but for more information about this was not provided to the press.

Representatives of the FBI and the bomb squad was also called to the scene of the fire.

The number of victims has reached 34 persons, 1 of whom is in critical condition, two in serious. Other victims experience mild symptoms of poisoning.

Firefighters are currently working at the scene. Video from the scene shows that there are several fire trucks and ambulances.
