A doctor from new York charged with manslaughter of 3 patients

The office for the fight against drugs (Drug Enforcement Administration — DEA) and the special Prosecutor of the state of new York released information about the arrest of Lawrence Choi. The doctor charged with involuntary manslaughter 3 of their patients to whom he prescribed a course of treatment drugs.

According to investigators, Choi in the period from 2013 to 2016 illegally prescribed treating his patients the drugs Oxycodone and Xanax. In the result, three people died from overdose of drugs. Initially, no one suspected that their death may be involved in the doctor. However, after the service, controlling the circulation of narcotic drugs, found that Choi suspiciously often assigns to their patients the treatment of the aforementioned drugs.

The DEA conducted an investigation and found a link between the three deaths from overdose. Each of the victims illegally received from a physician referral for treatment. As a result of abuse of patients expected natural and sad ending, but Choi continued to conduct criminal activities.

When the suspect opened a criminal case, he gave up medical practice and moved from new York to Wisconsin. Lawrence Choi was arrested after investigators received evidence of guilt. Now «doctor-killer» expects the first trial to be held on 7 June 2018.
