A very unpleasant incident occurred at the International airport Mak-Curran, located in Las Vegas (Nevada).
During the next shift one of the air traffic controllers became ill, causing the crews of the 5 planes started to get the wrong information. After a few minutes connection to the airport disappeared altogether, forcing pilots to hover over the Mac Curran for 40 minutes, waiting for further instructions. All this time the crews were completely in the dark about what is happening on the ground.
As representatives of the Federal office of civil aviation USA (Federal Aviation Administration, FAA), the incident occurred on 7 November, about 12 o’clock in the morning local time. In the process of communication with the dispatcher of the crews of several aircraft noticed that the employee of the airport’s acting strange. First, it is manifested in vague remarks, and after a while the woman began to confuse the team and to introduce pilots to mislead.

False information could cause a real disaster, because in the sky over the poppy Curran was from 5 aircraft, preparing to come in for a landing. Fortunately, tragedy was avoided, as the crews realized in time that the situation got out of control. In the future, the air traffic controller apologized for the silence and told the pilots about the problems with breathing. A few minutes later, the speakers came a cough and a wheeze.
After that dialogue with the air traffic controller finally broke, and repeated attempts to make contact to anything do not lead. Shocked the pilots switched to the common radio frequency and tried to find out from those on the ground what happened. After some time in the air there was a different Manager. He spoke about the health problems his colleagues and took control of air traffic itself. Surprisingly, serious problems were avoided, despite the huge passenger traffic at the airport in Las Vegas.
The FAA said their experts had investigated and came to the conclusion that all the passengers were safe and the incident movement of aircraft is not fixed. However, the leadership of the Federal office of civil aviation USA expressed concern about this incident. According to representatives of the FAA, such cases, the airport is unacceptable.
Later there appeared information that the Manager, which became ill while on duty, no longer works in Mac-Curran. The reasons for her dismissal are unknown. Moreover, FAA had previously claimed that the woman was sent on leave.
