Homes in South Los Angeles affected by the rupture of the water pipe, again there is drinking water

Water pipe burst Friday, flooding streets, houses and cars. More than four hours the employee tried to block a cast-iron pipe. It’s unclear what led to the explosion of the water pipe, but the corrosion and age of the pipe could play a role.

The flood mainly affected the house on 55th street. Leak temporarily left 75 residents without water in the area. No one was injured, but about 30 adults and 20 children were temporarily evacuated. On Monday afternoon, was completed repair of the streets and the victims have returned to their homes.

Sunday was restored the water supply, but LADWP notified the inhabitants of the area that this water must be boiled before drinking. After checking the water quality on Monday evening, the Department said that the water is safe to drink.
