Experts genealogy genetics has helped to solve a murder committed 12 years ago

Modern technology has again come to the aid of law enforcement.

The experts of genealogical genetics for a few days made a breakthrough in the 12-year-old. They were able to determine the identity of the person who committed the brutal murder using a sword. Thanks to DNA, police were able to detain the attacker and to restore justice.

The crime occurred back in 2006, in La Mesa (California). 47-year-old Scott Martinez was stabbed in his apartment by an unusual murder weapon — a sword. At the scene police found the blood of the suspect, but the search in the database of law enforcement agencies yielded no result. Since then, the investigation has stalled.

Last year detective Ryan Gremillion learned about the work of the infamous «Killer Golden state». COP got interested in genealogical genetics, which was then able to calculate a serial killer. Gremillion asked his superiors for permission to ask for help to the professionals working in this area. After receiving the nod, the detective contacted the experts Parabon NanoLabs.

Involved in genetics for several days was able to calculate the potential suspect. It was them 39-year-old Zachary Bunny. After receiving the tip, detective Gremillion a couple of months digging up information about this person. It turned out that in 2006, a man lived in La Mesa and is now moved to Oregon. Soon, the police came to the offender and took his DNA material, which confirmed his involvement in a brutal murder.
