In Ellicott Island Bark Park in Tonawanda (Erie County, new York) lost dog fell through the ice. It would have ended tragically if not for the determination of the good Samaritan from Whitfield.
Thursday, February 14, don Chattin without hesitation rushed after the little Terrier in the icy waters of the Tonawanda Creek, a small tributary to Niagara region and Western part of the state. He didn’t know how long the dog had been in the water, but, says the witness and the participant of the incident Mary Balicki, «he saw what happened, and did not hesitate for one second.»
The hero of this story was walking in the Park 2 my dogs — Milo and Duke. Here they usually walk several times a week. When the owner was about to return home, he was approached by a man and asked if he had seen accidentally grey Terrier. Don said that he had not seen, but will help in the search.
After 10 minutes, not spotted anywhere poteryashka, don Chatten thought that the dog was found, and went with their Pets to the exit. However, near the pedestrian bridge Milo and Duke suddenly stopped. The owner saw nothing, so I decided that they just reacted to the duck. He continued the path, calling the dogs, but they stopped again. And then I heard a faint whining.

The man rushed to the river. Mary Balicki walking in the Park my dog gio, he hastened to his aid. Leaving her purse, cell phone, keys and a flannel shirt, don entered the water.
He knew that by the time when rescuers arrive, it will be too late. In some places the ice near the shore was thick 6-8 inches, but not everywhere, but don knew there was shallow, and thus is not at risk too. To get to the dog, he had to break the ice with his elbow.
«Not many people will jump in after someone else’s dog — admires Mary Balicki. — And he just saw the situation and deal with it».
«I’m glad it wasn’t a St. Bernard,» say then don. According to him, not so hard to get to the dog, then get out of the water. Seeing this, the helper of Catena to come in, and he left her Terrier.
Samantha Kelly of Kenmore, walking in the Park with my dog, Harley, just passed the bridge when he saw a man carrying a wet, shivering dog to the shore. The woman took a few photos and later posted them on Facebook.

So Terrier Jackson reunited with his owner. With the dog all right: it was examined in the veterinary clinic on Friday and was discharged home. With the landlord Jackson his Savior has not communicated.
The man does not consider himself a hero. According to him, the heroes are the Duke and Milo. After all, if they do not, he would not have seen the dog in the water. «I just did the dirty work,» says don Chatten.
