The boy, who was only 22 months old, disappeared from his home in rural Kentucky, but was found unharmed in an old mine, somehow surviving one 3 days.
Police said in a tweet that Kenneth Howard was found around 14:00 in the County of Floyd in the old quarry. The boy was taken to hospital by helicopter for medical examination.
Photos of the rescue operation emerged later on Wednesday. They seen Kenneth, who sits in a diaper, surrounded by volunteers.
Captain Carter Conley of the rescue team County Magoffin said that the boy’s assist after dehydration, but otherwise he is in «surprisingly good condition».
The child’s parents have already been informed that he was found.
According to officials, Kenneth, who is only 22 months, was found at the foot of the quarry, located at 1755 feet from his house. As reported by WTVQ, the search team with a professional Ranger heard the cry of a baby and used a basket tied to a rope to raise it in a safe place.
