On Tuesday the police said that a dispute between a restaurant owner in Brooklyn and a contractor working unofficially, turned into a terrible drama with the kidnapping, when a businessman allegedly sent to the Builder weapon and kidnapped because of a debt of $25 thousand
Contractor Venasio Julajuj (32 years) told me that 2 months ago he received an advance of $25 million for the renovation of the restaurant in Canarsie. Another $50 million he was to receive upon completion of the works. But he spent a Deposit to work on another project, and the restaurant owner kept saying that he could not begin to repair, because he has no work permit.
After the work was not done, the owner of the restaurant invited him to the Thursday meeting, and this meeting allegedly turned into a 2-day abduction.
Business owner, whose name was not called, as it still is at large, came to meet a friend. Venasio claims that men attacked him, forcing to go to Canarsie. Later, according to the Builder, a business owner named him Carlos and said, «I want to get $50K right now. Go. We get money at your house.»
The contractor has explained to the Daily News, being after all that had happened at home in sunset Park: «I got $25 thousand and put them in another job. I told him that I will have money when I finish work. But he wanted me to give him twice that amount. I told him that I have at home or in the Bank no money. He told me to go with him and added, «I’ll give you another chance to finish the job.
The restaurant owner and his friend started Venasio in a restaurant in Canarsie and forced to call his brother, Gustavo. From Gustavo didn’t get a chance to pay, so men required to ask for help from friends, saying: «You’re not going anywhere. If you don’t give me the money, now die.» Venasio continues: «He took my passport and phone. Then showed me the gun. He said that it was my last day. I saw the gun 5 bullets. He asked me where I live and where my wife is. But I didn’t tell him. I told him that this was between me and him.»
Venasio, an immigrant from Guatemala, said that he feared for the safety of his wife, who is 5 months pregnant and 3 children.
He said that the couple then took him to the nearest house, gave him water, banana and forced to spend the night there, tied hand and foot so he couldn’t move.
«The next morning we returned to the businessman and said, «Good morning, Carlos. Your brother doesn’t love you. He did not bring the money»». Then the man gave a Snickers bar, potatoes and water for Breakfast and asked, «now What to do with you?»
Venasio explained that sometimes he performs construction work for another person and asked him to call that restaurant owner did. Boss Venasio was quite careful to ask the account number from the caller, and on Friday night his brother and the boss contacted the police.
The next day, i.e. on Saturday, police visited the house of a businessman in Canarsie. Julajuj stated that he was inside and I heard them knock at the door, but could not give a sign that he was there. He recalls: «I had nothing to say. He had a weapon».
The misadventures of men ended after the police. The business owner brought him out of the house and said, «Carlos, I’ll give you another chance to finish the job.» He shook the Builder’s hand and said, «Go to your wife. Go to your children.»
The police haven’t talked to the owner of the restaurant, but Julajuj said that on Monday he called and during the conversation again asked about the meeting, so he could tell the police that nothing criminal happened. «This is crazy. I don’t understand how he could do it,» says Julajuj.
