Beautiful evening on the long island quickly ended after 9-meter boat with six people on Board capsized near Execution Rock.
A rescue team of the Coast guard, FDNY and NYPD quickly responded to the incident. The first rescuers pulled out from water six persons, but one woman, 46-year-old Ravelo Castro, was trapped under the boat and entangled in fishing gear.
«I grab his leg, and the leg moves. I was like, this is a good sign, said NYPD detective Brian Mullen. — I slowly raised my hand and felt the woman’s hand, and she reassuringly squeezed my hand, so I knew she was not panicked, and she was alive.»
According to Mullen, the woman spoke no English, but he still managed to teach her how to breathe through a secondary air source.

The lifeguard helped her get to the hatch, where another diver, officer James Roche, met them and safely pulled the woman to the surface.
«I was at 1-1. 5 m below the surface. Detective Mullen pushed her out the window. I took her legs, grabbed her and swam to the surface,» said Roche.
Castro was taken by helicopter from North Shore University Hospital. It’s still unclear why the ship turned over.
