Soft toy shark «took over» a stray bullet that flew into the bedroom of a sleeping child

A bullet fired during a street shootout in Madison (state of Wisconsin) on Sunday evening, flew into the bedroom of a sleeping child and got into soft toy shark.

That night, about 21 hours, officers responded to reports of numerous shots fired in the 4500 block of Cottage Grove Road. Police found dozens of shell casings and damage to homes and cars. In the morning they found more shell casings and a bullet lodged in soft toys in a house on Vernon Ave.

According to Tanis, the mother of 3-year-old baby daughter was playing with a toy shark, and then fell asleep with her.
As reported in the police Department of Madison (MPD), a stray bullet flew into the child’s bedroom on the second floor. Toy was 5-10 inches from the head girl.

To date, investigators found 45 shell casings in the area that the call record for a single incident in the city. Police believe the shooting occurred between groups of enemies.

On Tuesday, the mayor of Madison Satya Rhodes-Conway issued a statement in which he noted that now this case is a priority for MPD.

«In Madison we will not tolerate violence with a firearm. The people involved in this incident showed a reckless disregard for human life, and we are fortunate that no one was hurt. If anyone knows something about what happened, it’s time to say,» said the mayor.
