Residents jumped out of Windows of a 25 story building to escape fire

Residents jumped out of Windows of 25-storey residential building in Los Angeles to escape the fire that broke out on the 6th floor.

Message about the fire at the home at 11740 West Wilshire Boulevard entered the LAFD Wednesday, 8:30 am.

Shortly thereafter, they tweeted live from the event. It is one of the victims got out through the window, slowly sneaking along a ledge to a fire tow truck. Meanwhile, from the open window to continue escape the dense pillars of smoke and flames.

Almost all the inhabitants of the house who dared to jump, were on the 6th floor near the fire. Some of them were evacuated by medical helicopter, at least one had to give emergency help because of a drop in heart failure.

Rescue work continued for several hours.

This is not the first fire incident in the building at 11740 West Wilshire Boulevard. In a previous incident in 2013-m to year on the 11th floor, injuring two people.

In an interview with reporters, the staff of the Fire Department of Los Angeles called the circumstances «suspicious» but declined to give details. At the moment the investigation is ongoing.

According to the latest information, the fire injured 11 people, including a 3 — month-old baby. 7 of them were taken to the hospital, 2 are in critical condition.
