Shooting in Missouri: 5 dead, including the officer and the shooter

Police say five people were killed and two injured after a shooting at a gas station in Springfield, Missouri. Police chief Paul Williams said Monday morning that among the dead are a police officer Springfield, three people and the gunman.

Williams said that the police had received various reports on Sunday night.

According to police Springfield, March 15, 2020 at 11:24 PM officers of the Springfield police were sent to the area of the Battlefield road (Battlefield Rd.) and lone pine Avenue ( Lone Pine Ave.) about the shooting. In the journey, they received several calls, including one to Ingram mill at 21:00 and the other on the sunshine (Sunshine) and Highway (Hwy) 65.

At 11:43 got another call, and officers were sent to the Kum & Go, located at Expressway chestnut (Chestnut Expressway), 2885 in connection with another shooting. The staff of Kum & Go said that at the scene of a crashed car, in the store the suspect walked in and shot customers and employees.

Officers Josiah Overton and Christopher Walsh first arrived, and the suspect immediately fired at them.

Arrived at the scene, other police officers pulled the two injured officers and entered the store, where they found the suspect deceased from a gunshot wound.

At the scene they also found three others dead and one person with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated. Next-of-kin of victims not yet notified.

The suspect is not yet identified.

Josiah Overton were injured, not life threatening and is being treated at a local hospital. Unfortunately, officer Christopher Walsh suffered a fatal gunshot wound and died in hospital.

Christopher Walsh died trying to save the victims of the shooting.

Officer Walsh has served in the police Department of Springfield in 2016 and was appointed as a patrol officer after graduating from the 68th Academy. He was an army veteran, worked for 10 years in the US army reserve.

Walsh is a native of Springfield. He graduated from high school in Glendale, and then entered the technical College Ozark, where he completed a course of EMT-B.

Chris was 32 years old, he left behind a wife and daughter.
