At Newark airport, the plane caught fire with passengers

The night before at the airport of Newark fired up the engine of the plane United Airlinesflight 1579 to San Francisco. The crew had to evacuate passengers, the airport temporarily closed.

The speaker of the United Airlines Jonathan Guerin said that air traffic control noticed the fire emanating from the right engine of the aircraft, and reported aboard. The crew immediately started the evacuation at the time of fire the plane had 134 passengers and 7 crew members.

«We smell like gas. The flight attendant asked us to leave the plane, we went down for emergency devices for the descent,» — said one of the passengers of the flight.

The passenger added that there was no panic, everyone tried to help each other during the descent. But, as later reported, five people suffered minor injuries — bruises.

The flame was extinguished by the arriving firefighters, after which the aircraft was towed to the hangar. Specialists will determine the cause of the fire in the engine.

As reported by airport officials, about 23 hours on may 23, it was opened for passengers in flights, possible delays and even this morning, may 24.
