The founder of the Guardian Angels, Curtis Plum, was arrested Tuesday morning at Gracie Mansion, home of new York mayor bill de Blasio on East End Ave. near E. 88th St.. Known host of radio talk show prevented the motorcade of the mayor.
63-year-old Plum was taken into custody about 8: 30 a.m. in connection with the «creation of barriers to the transport stream» and taken to the 19th police station.
The security guard tried to verbally persuade Plum to depart from the path of the car, but he didn’t react. Then the guard tried to pull the Drain from the roadway, but he succeeded only with the help of a police officer who arrived on the scene.
At the request of the Drain, he wanted to officially give the mayor some documents relating to the trial. Apparently, it was a copy of the claim of exclusion from De Blasio Working Families Party on the eve of elections of the mayor in the following year.
Before the Drain was taken to the police, he still managed to throw a folder of documents to the car of the mayor. «Technically, I handed him the documents,» he said later.
Curtis Plum, was released in some hours after detention. Out in press statements, he compared himself with the protesters at Tiananmen square, where people stood in front of them tanks.
