Often, passengers expose themselves to the danger of using the services of a taxi. Regardless of the test that pass all new drivers companies Lyft and Uber, in their ranks are often violent criminals.

This once again confirmed the incident in Chicago earlier this month. On 7 July, while vacationing with friends in the heart of river North, 25-year-old girl was a little too much fun and decided to go home in a taxi. Arrived on a call, the machine picked her up in the 400 block of Clark street — once inside the showroom, the client immediately plunged into the arms of Morpheus.

Waking up some time later, the victim realized that she was being taken in the wrong direction. She asked the driver to stop the vehicle and let her out, but he refused. Instead, he forced the girl to move to the back seat, and began to choke, and then tied up and raped.

The offender, who was later identified as 48-year-old Angelo McCoy, about 2 hours, held the victim captive, threatening her with a knife. She recalls that near the car passed the company of three people, but they ignored her cries and pleas for help.

In the end the taxi driver took the girl’s phone, driver’s license and money, after she ran away from him on the move jumped out of the car. The driver going behind a car picked her up and drove to the nearest police station.

The rapist was not destined long to remain free — July 19, he was arrested. On Monday, McCoy appeared in court where he was charged with sexual abuse with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping and armed robbery. The attacker posted bail in the amount of 90 thousand dollars. Retrial in his case will be held on August 9.

The company Lyft has responded to the scandalous incident, calling the actions of his, now former employee, «disgusting and horrendous».

Unfortunately, such incidents are not uncommon. In early summer the drunk passenger from Los Angeles was raped by the driver of Uber, and in January, a similar crime took place in Brooklyn.
