Shooting in the library, new Mexico: two dead, four wounded

Two people were killed and four were injured when unknown opened fire in the public library of the city of Clovis, state of new Mexico.

According to Reuters, the suspect was arrested and is in custody but his motives are still unclear.

The mayor of Clovis David Lansford thanked police for immediate response and professional actions, noting that victims could be much higher.

The shooting occurred yesterday, Monday August 28, at 16.15 local time. As the chief of police Clovis Douglas Ford, killed two women, two women and two men were injured, they were taken to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

Ford announced that the library had many children, but none of them, fortunately, was not injured. The shooter did not resist the police and surrendered immediately. His name and age are not reported.

Soyun-Hye, a 26-year-old cashier of the Japanese restaurant located next to the library, says that now is not feeling safe.

«I never thought that in this quiet town like this could happen,» she said.

Vanessa Aguirre, who with his son was in the library at the time of the shooting, said «The Eastern New Mexico News» that man went and became the first to shoot in the air.

«It all happened so fast,» she added.
