Trump has signed the law «Right to try», giving terminally ill access to experimental drugs

30 may 2018 the US President put his signature to the bill «Right to try» (Right to test). According to this decision, people with incurable diseases will have access to experimental drugs and courses of treatmentthat were not FDA-approved.

«Thousands of terminally ill Americans will finally get the hope and the opportunity to fight. I think it will significantly increase their chances of recovery, and that they will provide the necessary assistance,» said Donald trump at the signing ceremony.

The head of state thanked the sponsors of the bill for the work done. This honor was awarded to Senator Joe Donnelly, despite the fact that earlier trump called him «man-swamp.»

Around the draft law «Right to try» for a long time did not abate the controversy. Most Democrats were against support for this bill. According to them, patients knowingly protect against unapproved FDA drugs and experimental treatments. Opponents of the law believe that it will give terminally ill people the «false hope«. In particular, they draw attention to the fact that pharmaceutical companies are not required to give any warranties such patients.

In turn, the supporters of the bill, believe in the benefits of the law «last hope». This should allow patients to bypass lengthy bureaucratic procedures. The author of the bill argue that it could save the lives of hundreds of people if not thousands.

«We’ve been waiting for this moment, and today’s decision is a monumental victory for patients, desperately wanting to get access to modern medicines and methods of treatment,» said Greg Walden, Chairman of the Committee of energy and Commerce.

We will remind that earlier the US President unveiled a plan to lower prices on drugs. According to trump, this strategy will significantly reduce the cost of prescription drugs to U.S. residents.
