The attorney General of the state of new York is investigating another abuse on the part of the lessor. Landlord of the Queens demanded from tenants to confirm their immigration status under threat of eviction.

«New York- a city of refuge and immigrants are in fear,» said Peralta. «Why go after these people and ask them about the proof of immigration status to renew the lease, when in fact all they need to provide is the ID with photo or letter of employment that confirms their identity».
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he is launching a new public campaign to educate landlords and tenants of their rights and responsibilities.
