The biggest party in 25 years: the new York customs officials seized almost half a ton of cocaine

On February 28 in port of new York and Newark (new Jersey) was seized the second largest shipment of cocaine in the history of these two States. The last time local law enforcement was able to prevent the illegal import of drugs to such an extent in 1994.

As reported by customs and border protection, U.S. (CBP), the largest party of cocaine for the last 25 years, previously estimated at $77 million.

«This operation will prevent a huge number of drugs on the streets and in the hands of our children,» — said the commander of the special operation Troy Miller.

It is reported that the survey of container for transporting cargo, were found 60 packages of white powder. As confirmed examination it was cocaine.

«International criminal organizations rely on the illegal network worldwide for the supply, transportation and distribution of cocaine and other dangerous drugs,» said special agent Investigation service of the Ministry of homeland security (HSI) Brian Michael.

The police Commissioner of new York James P. O’neill said that law enforcement agencies will not allow distribution of illegal drugs on the streets.

«The NYPD and its partners continue to seek to identify and prevent the spread of illegal drugs, attacking their distribution networks at all levels. Due to such large engagements, we will continue to make all areas in the safest major city in our country even more safe», — said O’neill.

CBP officials gave the drugs to Federal officials for National security investigations. No one arrested.
