A thief using fishing rods stole the necklace from Versace, removing it from the mannequin

Police in Melbourne are looking for a thief who used unconventional methods to steal a jewel, as reported by the news outlet CNN.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been clarified, have used a fishing rod to remove the expensive necklace on the mannequin in a luxury fashion store in Melbourne, Australia last week, as noted in his statement, the police on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on February 24. The police shared a video made by the surveillance cameras, which shows how a man comes to the shop, holding a rod and looking at like an empty street.

Officials believe that the man made a hole in a glass window of the shop, then thrust the rod through the hole to lift the necklace from the mannequin inside, as reported by CNN affiliate Nine News.

«Think thief «caught fish» for about 3 hours before it struck such a catch,» — said in a statement, the police.

«I couldn’t believe it,» admitted Nine News store owner Steven Adigrat. «3.5 hours with 2 rods, he was trying to get this decoration, awesome. A hook and line and he did it.»

But the man left behind a clue – the hook that was attached to his rod.

The value of the stolen necklace is not reported, but we know that this decoration of the brand Versace.

The police shared a video and photographs of men and is now asking the public to report any available on the case information. The suspect is described as a white male aged 40 to 50 years, approximately 5.9 feet tall, with a short and pretty blonde hair. At the time of the theft he was wearing gray pants and a windbreaker.
