Escape 12-year-old boy from a foster home and allowed to accuse parents of mistreatment with him

The parents of 12-year-old child, who ran away from home in Logan County, Kentucky, on Tuesday, was arrested. They were charged with abuse, unlawful imprisonment and unjustified threats.

Marvin and Laura Reynolds was arrested and placed in jail Logan County Detention Center after the investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s office Logan County and Logan County Department of Community Based Services, which found evidence that the adopted son of the couple was hurt.

Investigators went to work, when a teenager ran away from home Tuesday April 14 and was found by rescuers. According to the arrest warrant, Reynolds not reported the disappearance of her son after 3.5 hours after his escape from the house.

Sheriff’s deputies Shawn Embry and Ed Higgins received information from captain Clint Wright, in which it was said that the boy was hurt, he did not live in normal conditions and was locked in his bedroom, where the window was boarded up and nailed shut.

According to the police report, Sheriff’s deputies met with parents and received permission to enter the house. The report says that the house was nice and clean, while the officers went into the baby’s room.

In his bedroom, the officers saw that on the floor there is no carpet, the window was boarded up, the room had a strong smell of urine and excrement, and on the floor was very dirty.

According to the report, Laura Reynolds told deputies that her son was trying to climb out the window because it was boarded up. They added that through the window passed plywood, but her son tore it and spoiled the look of the room. Carpet parents removed, because the boy had defecated on him, as did the parents.

Embry asked whether there was a boy locked in a room and whether there was access to the bathroom. Laura explained that only her son could lock his bedroom door from the inside and the other locks on the door were not.

Embry indicated in the report that he had received many complaints from witnesses – family members — who saw that the child was treated «like an animal» since Reynolds adopted him when he was 5 years old. The boy’s brothers, who also live in the house, confirmed the testimony of the witnesses, saying that the brother is locked in his room most of the day. As a toilet in his bedroom is a bucket and it is usually fed once per day.

The report says that Embry received sufficient evidence that the child was not fed, not cared for him and illegally closed in the bedroom of the foster parents. The child talked with their assigned therapist and confirmed the testimony of family members.

Marvin and Laura Reynolds was released on Thursday, when bail in the amount of $10 thousand each.
