New York officials are calling for greater transparency during the work of immigration services.
Several members of city Council say they intend to submit to the Assembly a bill according to which immigration officers should wear body camera during the various operations and raids.
Politicians are concerned that many immigrants have to be treated after the arrests and claim that the cameras will ensure the safety of officers and detainees.
«It’s good for civilians because they know that any interaction between the ICE agent and they will be documented,» said the Congressman , Adriano Espiet. «And, of course, it’s good for agents because they will know that they will not be able to make any unsubstantiated claims».
Espial adds that the chief of staff of the President of trump General John Kelly, who previously held the post of Minister of internal security, also supported the proposed measure.
Member of the Board also proposes to adopt a rule prohibiting ICE agents to arrest people in such places as churches, funeral services and schools.
