The new law will require police officers to undergo courses of first aid every 2 years

The state’s Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law according to which the state police are obliged to take courses in first aid (CPR — cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) once in two years. The law was called the Law of Bryan, on behalf of 11-year-old girl who died, although he could be rescued by the police who were nearby in the last minutes of her life. Without the skills of first aid, the officer could not help suffering from asthma girl, and she died.

«This law will give law enforcement agencies the necessary training and tools that will help save lives,» said Governor Cuomo. «First aid is a critical skill, requiring law enforcement officers to learn, we can create a safer new York for everyone.»

The new law will take effect in two months.
