Obama: politics needs more women

During a visit to Paris, held this weekend, Barack Obama made a speech in front of a group of leaders in the sphere of mass media, prominent financiers and scientists, known as Les Napoleons. In his speech, the politician declared that it was time to bring more women to power, «as in these days men can’t seem to handle it alone.» It is reported by news Agency AFP.

Although Mr Obama did not name names, he clearly had in mind the growing number of allegations of sexual violence and harassment, which in recent months increasingly involved celebrities and public people.

«I’m not generalizing, women seem to have more abilities than men, and it happens partly because of their socialization».

Recall that in the press recently, there were reports that politicians like Senator al Franken, members of the house of representatives John Conyers, Jr., and Ruben Kihuen accused of sexual harassment. Candidate for Senator from the state of Alabama Roy Moore’s call to abandon the race after several reports of such crimes.

Women legislators insist that Congress do more to combat sexual harassment, we cannot say that these requirements are left unattended. Last month, the speaker Paul Ryan announced that the house of representatives will introduce a special compulsory training aimed at preventing improper conduct, and more serious violations.

The former President also expressed regret that the current US government is not paying enough attention to the problem of climate change. This comment was clearly caused by the fact that earlier this year President trump announced the us withdrawal from the Paris agreement. The reason for his decision, trump called the fact that the expense of business in the United States, which cause him limitations associated with the agreement.

Before the speech, Obama also met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, as well as with his predecessor Francois Hollande and Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo.
