New «Manhattan project» brought together billionaires and scientists in the fight against coronavirus

A group of scientists and billionaires have combined their efforts to create a modern «Manhattan project» designed to help the White house to deal with the outbreak of coronavirus.

Calling themselves «Scientists to Stop COVID-19», a group of leading researchers, billionaires and titans of industry will act as a «special inspection fee» for flood studies of the coronavirus, «screening out» false data before they get to politicians. About it reports Wall Street Journal.

This Association will also act as a mediator for pharmaceutical companies seeking to build a communication channel with representatives of the administration trump.

The group compared their efforts with the «Manhattan project» during the Second world war, during which was developed the atomic bomb. Last month, «Scientists to Stop COVID-19» advised nick Ayers, assistant Vice-President Mike Pence, and the other heads of agencies. Pence chaired a task force of the White house for the coronavirus.

At the head of the new Association is a 33-year-old doctor, who became a venture capitalist, Tom Cahill. It is believed that he has enough ties in the government to influence decision-making in the war against COVID-19.

The impact Cahill is associated with linkages through its investment firm Partners with Newpath Peter Tilem from Silicon valley, the founder of PayPal, and businessmen-billionaires Jim Palotai and Michael Milkana.

Group members say they are involved in it, not for financial gain, and motivated to assist in the fight, which led to tension between the Federal authorities and state governments, and also dealt a serious blow to the economy.

At the moment in the world recorded more than 3 million infections a coronavirus.

The group consisted of the 17-page plan that offers «four effective, non-partisan proposals for the production of safe and effective medicines and vaccines COVID-19 in the shortest possible time and to open our society so that in the future to reduce the risk of an outbreak COVID-19».

According to the Wall Street Journal, Steve Pagliuca, co-owner of the Boston Celtics, who helped edit part of the report, gave a copy to the Director General of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. David Solomon, who gave it to the Minister of Finance Steven Mnuchin.

Among the proposals is the redevelopment of the recognized drugs to «significantly accelerated time scale» and the development of antibodies that could be used to «protect critical healthy employees and for those with «high risk» of infection».

One of the most promising drugs is Ramdevpir, which was designed for use against Ebola.

Long-term control of the pandemic will require «the development and implementation of an effective vaccine».
