Chicago sues trump administration due to financial threats

Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel (Democrat — approx. ed) plans to sue the administration trump, who is threatening to withhold funds for grants to maintain public security in the city-shelters. In Chicago believe that the administration acts illegally.

Filing Federal lawsuit followed less than two weeks after attorney General Jeff Sesens announced that the U.S. Department of justice will take away the cities ability to get grants if there will not provide migration services unlimited access to local prisons and will not notify the authorities about the release of anyone held on charges of immigration offences.

«Chicago will not allow our police to become political pawns in the debate,» — said at a press conference, Emanuel. «Chicago will not allow the rights of our citizens were violated and flouted. And Chicago will never refuse from the status of a hospitable city».

Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants gives money to hundreds of cities. Expect Chicago, which is under scrutiny of Republican President Donald trump because of the high level of murders in the city, will receive this year’s $ 3.2 million for the purchase of various equipment.

Emmanuel said that the trial will not allow the property trump to set a precedent that could be used to hold the Finance.

The Federal government under the leadership trump and Sashenka was going to «declare war» cities of refuge, which are usually a safe haven for illegal immigrants by denying them the use of municipal resources. Meanwhile, dozens of cities, including new York, Los Angeles and Chicago, has joined the growing movement of «loyalty to the migrants».

Chicago became the first city, which challenged the Department for Byrne, although city officials said that they maintain contact with other cities. California attorney General Xavier Becerra is also considering such a lawsuit, reports the Sacramento Bee.
