Saturday morning, the tragedy occurred in the town of Crown Point, 40 miles from Chicago, where four-year-old Eric Cole was in the house of his nurse.
He was left alone in the room, when suddenly a shot rang out.
As told to CBS Chicago, the Sheriff of Lake County, according to preliminary information, the child found the gun in a box under the bed in the room on the second floor of the house. Taking it in hand, he accidentally made one shot, which proved fatal.
«Now the family is in a state of shock,» says a family friend Cole, Timothy Kuiper. «They’re just trying to cope with the loss. Two weeks later Eric was about to turn five years old. It is a tragedy».
Authorities do not argue that the charges will be filed because, according to them, the case is considered as an accident. But the investigation is ongoing.
Recall that just a week ago a similar tragedy occurred in Florida. There is a four-year Ashton Gooding have found a home with firearms, accidentally shot himself and died of his wounds.
