For the first time in 13 years in Los Angeles started a lottery for affordable housing

Affordable housing in the City of angels is considered to be a deficit. So it was still, but soon the situation will change for the better. For the first time in 13 years in the County accepting applications for participation in the Section 8 project.

Section 8 is the housing lottery, in which the housing authority of Los Angeles will cover rental costs of apartments for the needy categories of the population. At the first stage of the program will provide assistance up to 20 thousand tenants.

Accepting applications has started on 16 October and runs until 17:00 on 29 October, as reported by mayor Eric Garcetti in the framework of the video message.

At the end of this period the winners will be selected among applicants on a random way. To participate in the lottery is open to all residents of the district, but preference will be given to the veterans and the people living or working in the territory of Los Angeles.

A list of available housing units submitted on the website of the housing authority of the city of Los Angeles. The cost of rental housing and subsidies to the winners of the lottery will depend on income. In any case, their costs will not exceed 30% of monthly revenues.

Applications are accepted online 24 hours a day. Applicants are required to fill out a form and provide some personal information, including the amount of total family income.
