The owner of one of apartment houses in the Bronx openly neglected its responsibilities for maintenance of the building: the house of the frequent and prolonged shortages of hot water and heating, have not been renovated, bred rats and cockroaches.

Eight occupants of the 55-apartment building at: 1054-1058 Southern Blvd. in Foxhurst — filed a lawsuit against the landlord 634 Southern LLC and the management company Midas Property, stating that the landlord intentionally ignores all complaints, strive to survive them from their apartments.

The tenants are convinced that over the egregious behavior of the mentioned companies is the desire to get rid of tenants with fixed rent, to raise rents to market levels.

According to the Department for the preservation and development of housing over the last 2 months of tenants of the ill-fated house repeatedly reported about long-term (not less than 15 days) the lack of hot water and heating. Some tenants, for decades suffering the tyranny of homeowners say that the same problem was with the previous owner. When people started to complain, the management company threatened them with eviction.

Ryan Monell is the representative member of the Board of Bronx Rafael Salamanca, Jr., in whose keeping is the area, called the situation with the building on 1054-1058 Southern Blvd. «unacceptable.» Office of Salamanca has sent a request to the Department for the preservation and development of housing for inspection to determine the extent of the problem and find a solution.
