In the near future in Hell’s Kitchen there will be affordable housing

Wednesday, February 13, Commissioner of the city Department of housing and development (HPD) Maria Torres-Springer has announced that the chosen developers for the construction of more than 250 affordable apartments in the heart of Manhattan on 2 city-owned facilities in the district of Hell’s Kitchen. The first is located at 806 9th Avenue, the second at 705 10th Avenue.

For construction of the facility on 9th Ave. was chosen companies like Housing Works and The Hudson Companies. For the design of the building, they have attracted the architectural firm CetraRuddy.

This object will include about 100 affordable apartments for families with very low and low income levels, few of these apartments are reserved for homeless residents of new York. Designed building leased to the New York City Transit. After it is built, it will house office space of the Agency. Also on the first floor of 11 thousand square feet will be reserved for retail space, among which a thrift store Housing Works.

The construction of the building on 10th Ave., designed by S9 Architecture, will deal with Douglaston Development and The Actors Fund. Here for families with low and very low income will be provided about 160 affordable apartments. On the ground floor of the new building will accommodate a public restroom and equip public area that focuses on art, which will be managed by Spaceworks. Under the leadership of the Department of parks and recreation new York on this object will set the new open space.
