The doctors officially confirmed in California, three cases of death from West Nile virus.

Deaths from a virus that is transmitted by mosquitoes, were recorded in counties Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Kern.

«West Nile is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization, death, and permanent disabilities. It is especially dangerous for the elderly and people with weak immune systems,» says ABC 7 Dr. Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, health officer County of Los Angeles.

«Residents should take precautions against mosquitoes, to use repellents that contain effective ingredients such as DEET. It is also advisable to stay away from sources of stagnant water for the mosquitoes to breed,» advises the specialist.

The peak of the fever caused by West Nile virus usually occurs in September, although sometimes cases recorded until November.

Today in California was 87 cases in 13 districts.
