To little to calm residents of Florida, and so has difficult days ahead, BuzzFeed put together a list of false news about the hurricane Irma (some of them users, zapotevshie misinformation, quickly removed).

Sharks in the streets

Sharks supposedly floating through the streets during storms, are the rumors that appear in almost every storm. The «news» in the screenshot was created using the website breakyourownnews.com. It is unknown how many people «bought» it, but there are no reports yet about the fact that Irma has brought sharks to the streets of Florida.

Facebook

Dishwasher

Post to Facebook, which instantly went viral and garnered nearly a million shares, advises to put your valuables in the dishwasher. But it’s not the best option.

Manufacturer of machines Maytag told BuzzFeed News that they are not recommended to store valuables in the dishwasher. Agency for environmental protection also warned that the dishwasher can leak. In addition, residents are advised to unplug all electrical appliances before the flood.

Hotels and Pets

Another popular post in Facebook claims that, by law, evacuate 2006 hotels must accept Pets, but it’s not. The law only requires local authorities to consider Pets during the evacuation.

Tibet, and not the virgin Islands

The video, which is crumbling five-story building got 2 million views on Facebook and was even published by The Daily Mail. But that’s not the Irma in the virgin Islands, and the July floods in Tibet. Soon the user as the Daily Mail has removed the video.

App Zello

Application-Zello walkie-talkie that many used during hurricane Harvey, warned its users about the misinformation. The network spread reports that in Puerto Rico the app worked without Internet, but it’s not.

This is not a picture of the airport of the island of St. Martin after Irma. The received a lot of retweets, but this is the airport in Los Cabos, Mexico after hurricane 2014.

Irma will be the hurricane of the 6th category

In his blog, the Republican candidate for Congress Michael Snyder wrote: «the Category 6? If Irma will become the strongest hurricane in history, she could wipe entire cities off the map.»

Currently, there are only five categories of hurricanes, which is enough, say experts.

«If the hurricane of the 4th and 5th categories is already catastrophic consequences and enormous power, why do I need category 6?», told SAF News the representative of the National hurricane center Dennis Feltgen.

Dolores, not Irma

It’s not a video in which Irma is raging in the Caribbean, and the enormous forces of a tornado, sweeping away everything in its path, in the town of Dolores, Uruguay. A tornado swept through there in 2016.

In Facebook, the video has gained over 19 million views and even misled meteorologist, who later apologized for the post.

Harvey’s Irma

Hundreds of people retweeted the «photo Irma from space». It is really a picture of hurricane 2017, but not Irma, and Harvey. The picture was taken by astronaut Jack Fischer, who recently returned to Earth.
