Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Puerto Ricans migrate to the mainland USA, if they do not provide the necessary assistance and quickly, warned the Governor of the island on Wednesday.
«You’ll get hundreds of thousands, if not millions of refugees from Puerto Rico, who will seek refuge in new York, Florida or Texas. So we ask — let us act, because this demographic bias will not benefit neither the States nor Puerto Rico,» said the Governor, Rossello in an interview with Pix11.
To the question about whether or not doing in this situation, the Federal government, Rossello said:
«The answer is Yes. But it’s a little more complicated. Puerto Rico is different from Florida or Texas, or even Jersey and new York when they were hit by sandy. We do not have direct communication with the mainland and can’t get some resources. So we depend on airports, air traffic is difficult now. We depend on ports that need to recover so we can get these resources. And right now, frankly, we have the resources here. The main problem is the logistics in the Islands, we have a problem with the link».
As noted, Rossello, trump administration «reacted quickly». Although some, including the Governor of new York Cuomo, said, Donald trump reacted to the problems of Puerto Rico seriously enough.
According to Rossello, much has been done but more needs to be done. He States that Puerto Rico is part of US and deserving of help, corresponding to the size and amount of destruction.
