When 10-year-old schoolgirl from new Jersey saw on the sidewalk two dollars, we decided to go to the police to find the rightful owner of the money.
Isabella king from the town of Pequannock was returning home from school when I saw on the ground two dollars. The girl’s mother, Alissa, said the publication the Daily Record: daughter insisted to go to the nearest police station.
Police officer Christopher Depuyt, who at that time was at the station, politely explained to the girl that they can’t take the money because there is no way to prove ownership on such a small amount.
«Obviously, this young lady wonderful parents that raised her,» he said. «Her integrity must be an inspiration and example for all.»
The very same 10-year-old Isabella explained that to keep the money would be wrong because the person who lost them, could need even in this amount. «I know it’s only two dollars, but I wanted to do the right thing and honestly,» said the girl.
In the end, Isabella was persuaded to donate the two dollars to the local scoutswho raised money to help the military.
