Michael Slager, a former police officer from South Carolina who killed unarmed African-American Walter Scott, has been sentenced to 20 years in Federal prison.

This verdict today, December 7, was made district judge David Norton. He called it the most difficult decision that he had to take over the entire 27-year-old practice.

April 4, 2015, Slager stopped the car of a 50-year-old Scott for a broken taillight. At some stage between African-American and police scuffle ensued, after which the intruder started to run away from the police. This moment managed to shoot a passerby.

On the record it was clearly evident that the guard shot a fleeing guy in the back 5 times. Video was the main argument for the detention officer and, of course, for further investigation.

Lawyer Slager Andy savage agreed that the actions of his client was a criminal. But he argued that it was murder at the sudden intent.

The defense failed to convince the judge Norton righteousness. He decided that Slager guilty of second-degree murder and should be punished in the form of imprisonment for 20 years.

Before the verdict from relatives of the parties had the opportunity to speak before the court.

«If you met him you’d like him,’ said the mother of the deceased Judy Scott. I don’t know anybody for his bad attitude».

«I’m not mad at you, Michael, asked brother Scott to the police. I forgive you, Michael, and praying for you.»

The wife of the convict, Jamie Slager, also addressed the audience and asked the judge to pardon her husband: «My heart is broken due to the fact that it is impossible to change anything».

We will remind, the court of St. Louis, Missouri, acquitted former police officer Jason Stockley, who in 2011 shot and killed a black suspect Anthony Smith during the chase. Many do not agree with this verdict came on the protests, which ended with arrests.
