Popular rapper Kendrick Lamar were among the winners of the prestigious prize Pulitzer-2018. The award ceremony took place on 16 April. The contractor received the award for his album «DAMN«, released exactly a year ago.

As noted in the Committee of the Pulitzer prize, Lamar was able to convey through their songs all the difficulties and problems of modern African Americans. The Committee also noted the depth of meaning of texts, original combination of musical motifs and a high level of dedication of the artist.
For the first time in history the winner of the Pulitzer prize in music, was a performer of rap. Before all the awards were given to representatives of the jazz and classical areas. Previously, the album «DAMN» won the prize «Grammy» in the category «Best rap album».

In the nomination «public Service» won three journalists — Joni Kantor, Megan Tuey and Ronan Farrow for the investigation of the harassment of the famous producer Harvey Weinstein.
In the category of «national reporting» award was given to the journalists of the Washington Post and the New York Timeswho covered the scandal for possible connections of the nearest environment of Donald trump with the leadership of the Russian Federation. The articles for which they received the award are those that were revealed facts of interference of the Russian Federation in the presidential elections of 2016.
