In the basement new Jersey found dozens of bottles of wine of the XIX century

The staff of the Museum Liberty Hall, located at Kean University in Union, new Jersey, during the reconstruction of the wine cellar was found dozens of old wines.

Among them — three bottles of Madeira in 1796 , and about 42 bottles of the 1820-ies. Now it’s the largest collection of Madeira in the United States.

As told NJ.com the President of Liberty Hall John Keane, he had no idea that the discovery would be of historic value. But the cost of rare wine he can’t tell.
«We knew that in this cellar, lots of wine, but had no idea about his age,» said Keane.

About 95% of Portuguese wines at the time, imported the original 13 American colonies. Madera was considered a drink of the gentlemen, it was the best wine at the time, because it is rarely contaminated.

«So even those bottles to open and try out the perfect wine», — said the employee of the Liberty Hall bill Sroh Jr.
