Because of the constant delays in the subway dwellers of new York does not get to the doctor, you’re late to school to pick up children, and some even lost their jobs because of the constant delays.
These are the results of a survey published this weekend by the office inspector of new York Scott Stringer.
As said stringer at a press conference, a survey was conducted among 1227 new Yorkers from different areas of the city on 143 stations of the metro. In the end, 74% of respondents said they were repeatedly late for work due to delays in the subway. 65% of respondents were late for their children to pick them up from school. Half of the respondents used a taxi to get to work, when there were problems with the subway. Some people even got fired.
When new Yorkers were asked to evaluate the situation in the subway, almost three quarters of respondents gave a rating of «C» or below.
«This is a real crisis, no doubt,» said stringer. «The level of service decreases, delays increase, new Yorkers dissatisfied with metro as never before.»

As for the different boroughs, only 10% of respondents in the most prestigious areas said that they had problems at work due to delays, for example, reprimands. But this percentage increases dramatically in areas where is mostly populated by citizens with lower income. Thus, in the Bronx , 54% of respondents said that they got problems at work due to tardiness. In Queens , this percentage was 45% in Brooklyn — 40% in Manhattan and 25%.
As a solution to the problems stringer has proposed to increase funding for metro until the asset is 3.5 billion dollars. The fact that the report published in June by the Independent budget office, said most of the renovations, scheduled for beginning of 2017, is still not done. By the beginning of 2018 will be held only one major repair tracks and railway traffic lights.
«The fact that we are not invested in the subway a few decades ago, led us to the current situation. Will new York on the top in this century, depends among others on the quality of our transportation system,» said stringer.
