Springfield has several parks worth visiting, but Forest Park is the city's largest and most popular. The park is located next to the Connecticut River and covers an area of about 297 hectares. There is an amphitheater in the park, and there is also a zoo. You will also find basketball courts, a water garden and numerous forest trails here. If you're visiting Springfield around Christmas, be sure to check out Forest Park as it's decorated with beautiful lights and put on an amazing light show.
Visit the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame 
Going to the Basketball Hall of Fame is one of the best things to do in Springfield. It's a fun way to spend a couple of hours. Rumor has it that James Naismith (for whom the hall of fame is named) invented basketball at the Springfield YMCA in 1891. The museum is jam-packed with exhibits and hosts shooting competitions and trials. Some artifacts are dedicated to the best of the NBA.
A step back in history at the Storrowtown Museum
History buffs will love the Storrowtown Village Museum for exhibits of New England history. This is a great place to learn more about Massachusetts and other New England states. The museum has a living history program and tours of the village are available. In a living museum, you will see various buildings, artifacts, shops and restored houses. You can also learn about the people who lived in these houses and what life was like in 19th century New England.
Meet the farmers at the Big E Fair
The Big E Fair, formerly known as the Eastern States Show, is a major agricultural event. It is the largest agricultural fair on the East Coast and the sixth largest in the United States. There are horse shows, vegetable shows, livestock judging, games, rides, stalls and entertainment. This is an interesting place to visit if you are traveling to Springfield with kids.
Discover the secrets at the Titanic Museum
Edward Kamuda founded the Titanic Museum in 2006 and has built up an impressive collection of exhibits and artefacts related to the Titanic's 1912 voyage. Many of the artifacts on display, such as blueprints for the ship and original life jackets, were donated by survivors of the Titanic. If you're interested in a real event or are a fan of the movie, the Titanic Museum is a great place to visit.
Learn something new at the Springfield Science Museum 
This science museum is one of the oldest museums in Springfield and was founded in 1859. Explore the Springfield Science Museum exhibits in the Dinosaur Hall, Astronomy Hall, Native American Hall, and African Hall. There is also a planetarium ideal for stargazing. The giant Tyrannosaurus Rex sculpture is also very cool and will enchant dinosaur lovers.
Relax in Blunt Park
Blunt Park is a place to relax and have a good time, and it's also a great park for a picnic or barbecue. There are picnic tables, an outdoor grill and more, a soccer field, basketball and tennis courts, and a children's playground. Spend a fun-filled morning or afternoon in Blunt Park and breathe in the fresh air.
Visit the Armory National Historic Site
This National Historic Landmark is dedicated to preserving Springfield's history, especially the city's role in providing firearms to the US Army. The museum is located in the original building of the armory. This arsenal appeared under General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. You can tour the armory with a ranger or on your own. This is a fantastic historic place to visit in Springfield.
Listen to a concert at the Symphony Hall 
The Symphony Hall, located on Court Street, was built between 1911 and 1913. Its architecture is inspired by the Greek Revival movement. The hall can accommodate about 2611 people and has impeccable acoustics. If you want to watch a performance while in town, head to the Symphony Hall, as this is where the Springfield Symphony Orchestra plays. In addition to music shows, the auditorium hosts lectures, Broadway-style theatrical performances and children's shows.
Visit the Lyman and Merry Wood Museum
This museum was built in 2005 with a donation from Mr. M. Allen Swift. The museum's main focus is on Springfield's history throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, and features permanent and rotating exhibitions. It also houses the Springfield Historical Library and Archives.
