Bushwick Inlet Park will be turned into a shelter for wild cats

People who care about wild cats on the shores of Greenpoint, thrilled that there began the construction of the building. Now the defenders of the cats want to move animals in Bushwick Inlet Park and turn it into a shelter.

Angela Velasquez, a resident of Greenpoint, was always helping stray cats near India Street pier. But now there’s a plan to build a 40-story house, so the cats will be kicked out. Velasquez and others hope that Bushwick Inlet Park will provide the cats with shelter. All animals were castrated and sterilized. But due to the fact that they grew up on the streets, they will not be able to take home.

The shelter will be volunteers and will be sponsoring with the money from collecting and recycling bottles and cans. Steve Chesler, head of the Friends, said that the shelter project is in the early stages and he fears how fluffy the neighbors will affect the bird population in the Park.

As reported by Dnainfo, the growth of construction in the city is already threatening such colonies of wild cats in Hell’s Kitchen and Long Island City in Carroll Gardens.
