Focus on parents: a new York restaurant monitors the alcohol consumption of their guests

Most American restaurants and bars do not accept orders for alcohol, if clients under the age of 21. But the restaurant Peddlers Bar & Bistro in Clifton Park, new York, decided to go ahead and introduce another rule aimed at parents who came to have lunch with their children.

In the menu of the restaurant indicated limit: not more than one unit of alcoholic drink for the entire meal. This applies only to those parents who after lunch in the restaurant is going to get behind the wheel.

“The obligation to end deaths from drunk driving requires the participation from all of us. Each of us participates in this mission through its unique method. Our goal is to protect all the children that we have lunch,” explains its policy on the administration of the restaurant.

Not all visitors have the taste for such a condition, but the institution stands fast on its position and asks those who do not agree with the rule to dine in some other place.

“The tables start to swear at the waiters, and some [visitors] very much upset, but the managers approach to them and explain that we’re not criticizing parents. This is just what we feel with our hearts, and that’s what we can do to help,” said Melisa Gravell, General Manager of Peddlers Bar & Bistro.
