The Ministry of defense reported that they managed to find the remains of a marine from Brooklyn who died 75 years ago during the Second world war.
Private Joseph C. Carbone, who served in the 2nd marine division, was killed on the first day of the battle of Tarawa (Japan) November 20, 1943. He was one of more than 3,000 U.S. Marines killed or wounded during the battle, culminating in the victory of the U.S. army, according to a Ministry statement.
