New York will allocate $5 million for the reconstruction of the Tennis House

Located near Long Meadow, the historic building was designed by the same firm that built the famous boat station Prospect Park, but eventually fell into disrepair and was closed to the public during the last decade.

«The building, a favorite of many, is in need of serious repair,» explains Christian Zimmerman, Vice President of wealth management and landscape to Prospect Park Alliance. «We wish it was re-opened to the public. Our plan is to conduct a full reconstruction.»

For the reconstruction of the Prospect Park Tennis House, the city will allocate $5.1 million in the budget for 2018. This building from 1910, designed by Hellman, Hudswell and Huberty and it was something of a tennis club where the restrooms and changing rooms, says Zimmerman.
Today the building is used as office for the employees of landscape management, and despite the fact that experiencing not the best times, still retains its architectural charm, including vaulted ceilings, a pavilion with colonnades and mosaic tiles.

For the reconstruction will be invited specialists on monuments of antiquity that will help to restore the building and make sure that was maintained the old style and character of architecture.
